What is a Natura Prestige Set?
A Natura Prestige Set is a Limited Edition Gold coin set that is presented in a wooden box with numbered Certificate of Authenticity.
The South African Mint has been releasing Natura Prestige Sets on an annual basis since 1994; and continues to do so to this day. These sets are at the top of every collector's list and are often difficult to find.
A Natura Prestige Set consists of four individual 24 Carat Gold coins (One Ounce, Half Ounce, Quarter Ounce and One Tenth Ounce.) Coins are encapsulated in order to protect them.
Every year features a different animal. While the various animals vary wildly they all have one thing in common: four legs. Examples of some of the animals featured: Lion, Rhino, Elephant, Buffalo, Leopard, Hippo, Kudu, Meerkat and Cheetah.
The Holy Grail of the Natura Prestige Sets is the legendary 1995 Rhino Prestige Set. Only 89 of these sets were produced, making them practically impossible to find today. This Set formed part of the Big Five Series of 1994 - 1998.
Prestige Sets must not be confused with Proof Sets, which are presented in a Leatherette Box and produced in greater numbers.
Natura Prestige Sets are official South African Mint products and the Certificates of Authenticity will clearly state "Prestige Set".
